Are YOU ready?
(We see walking along the parapets of Castle Drago aka, Eternal Grove lair, Brutal Mick Brandon. Not a night person and probably the only person in EG that seems more suited to daytime instead of the Eternal Darkness that his stable mates seem to revel in. He looks out over a vast plain. Like a tundra that you see in those Chinese epic movies. Coming from the other direction comes Vespertine and stands beside him both looking out at the vista before them.)
Ves: Beautiful during the day, more ethereal at night. This is why we picked here.
(Mick just grunts)
Ves: You have been watching Tarrasque's promos. I have been training him in the ways of martial arts. Do you need help training or sparring?
(Mick shrugs. A man of very VERY few words.)
Mick: No. I'm good.
Ves: You are facing Kara Reinhard this week who is on the a natural high after defeating Valora. Now you know, you are our first line of defense. If she gets past you... well...she shouldn't...
(She lets the sentence hang in the air along with the cold)
Mick: He won't.
Ves: It's weird hearing you talk. You have been a jobber and even when you joined us, you barely spoke.
(Mick just shrugs)
Ves: Like that. Now you know you need to do a promo against Kara, how are we in that department? You know, you're gonna have to do better than Chris Benoit did.
Mick: Who?
Ves: Chris. Benoit? (shakes his head) WWE legend? Murder suicide him, his family? Crippler Crossface? Lots of headbutts. Friend of Eddie Guerrero (sees his vacant expression) Never mind. We'll work on that. True jobber material you are. But we need to level you up?
Mick: As in video game?
Ves: I- do- you- as- (shrugs in awe) Yeah, sure whatever. I don't do those but whatever gets you hard.
(It is actually Mick this time to stare askance at her for her lack of knowledge in video gaming.)
Ves: Yeah sorry, I prefer to be an outsider: a person who enjoys being outdoors more than efedding or watching TV or playing video games.
(Pause as they continue to stare out. Now both wondering how the other actually lives like they do)
Ves: So you ready? You gonna do a promo ready for Kara?
Mick: No, I though you were going to do that.
Ves: I do my own promos, I co did promos with Vastrix. I'm in Tarrasque's promos in a limited capacity. Karlie and I do one promo every show we are tag team. Drago is the vision and pushes EG forward. He tells me and I enforce our ideas. I already do a lot, plus am manager for my James in BAWF. I would think you would talk enough to do one promo. Even if you go back to jobber status afterwards, I'm sure you have a lot to say to Kara. Try it. I mean this time you have to be better than last time, where Eoin attacked you before the match but never showed up for the match. How you didn't win that, I'll never understand. Semantics or something. But it is what it is.
Mick: How?
Ves: You remember how you felt when it rained on you? (He nods) and you remember how it felt afterwards. That euphoria you get when the rage leaves and the anger leaves but you're still high from whatever drug the rain gives you. (He nods again) Tap into that.
Mick: How? I mean they have never given me enough air time to do promos. Cuz Jobber.
(She puts two fingers to the bridge of her nose and sighs, then gets an idea.)
Ves: You've watch promos right? (He nods) You've seen my promos, you've seen Viktors, Drago's Karlie's and dare I say it, Eoin's, Nathan's, Abigail's, Madd's, Akame's, Apathy's, Valora's, The Reinhardt's, right. Tap into them, come up with something that is like them but make it your own. But you can be a better talker than Tarrasque. Closer to Dylan's.
(Mick thinks on this.)
Ves: All right, let's do this. (whips out her phone to start recording) Look into this. (as if on cue, it clouds over and becomes very grey and very dark.) Nice! The weather gods are on our side. All right... go!
(Brutual leans against the parapets. At first it seems he is not doing anything then he looks like he is hulking up for something to the point of rage. As he talks, he goes from very soft to very loud in a very short amount of time. His voice is filled with rage. At various points she makes him go harder. Angrier. Louder. More metal and maybe more mental.)
Mick: Kara. I'm your gatekeeper. I'm the Sentinel for Eternal Grove. I'm it's guardian. You want to get to them you have to go through me. And while I may not be your first choice in taking on EG, I'm who you are going to get. I'm equal your rage, I'm equal your strength, I'm equal your brutality. You're a, what? A former bodyguard, medic for GS-9?
(looks at Vespertine as if to say "what is that?" She shrugs. All she knows is that it's a German unit or something.)
Mick: I'm the Hired Hitman of Eternal Grove and I will do everything in my power to make you tap out and bleed your own blood. I'm Brutal Mick Brandon. You may have seen me in action, you may have heard of me but you will definitely face me at Vanguard and you will come to know that my brutality is much greater than yours.
(He starts pacing and hullking up at the same time. Shades of Hulk Hogan)
Mick: Focused? Sure. Talented. Yes you are. Better than me. Remains to be seen. Bigger than me? Not at all. You may have your daughter and your brother to back you up but I have Eternal Grove and we are a more unified front than any other stable in CWF. Smoke mirrors, knives and guns. That is what Eternal Grove is about. You bring a knife to our gunfight and you WILL lose. As a sniper, as a German, English not being your first language, you understand the analogy.
(He shouts in rage.)
Mick: Bring it Kara. You have nothing. Kronin and Ravyen have their own issues this show. I'm the man you need to take down. As if you could. GRRRR, you are nothing,. YOu aren't better than me. I'm bigger than you and more brutal than you. I'm far more dangerous than you. Just because you can beat Murdoch who is known as a hardcore Icon and Valora Salinas, they are NOTHING next to me. You even got to face Rob Riott and Frank Sawyer before they ran away from here. I would too if I knew I had to face.... ME! I am Brutal, I am Mick. I am Brandon. Brutality is my middle name. Violence is my first name and Pain is my last name. You want this? Come! Get! SOME!
(This last one he rages at the camera at the top of his lungs.)
Mick: I think I lost my voice. How was that?
Ves: It was ok. She's seen your work. I think this may not scare or instill fear in her but she definitely knows she is in for a fight. I think. I hope. Who knows. Meanwhile, if you get more chances, we'll workshop working on how you talk. Brutality is your nickname, violence your first name and pain your last name?
Mick: I choked when it came to names. Like you, I do actions better than words.
Ves: Yes but still acting classes are in order. Being a communications major helped me.
Mick: Wait! You went to college?
Ves: Yes. Didn't you?
Mick: I dropped out of high school to do this.
Ves: Oh
(Neither of them know what to say next as both are flabbergasted with each other's lives.)
Ves/Mick: Well we'll work/shop what you/I have to say next time.
(They go back to staring. When Mick gets bored, he just leaves. She shrugs and when Drago and Viktor walk onto the parapets)
Drago: How is he? Ready for his match against Kara? She's dangerous?
Ves: (looks off to where Mick left and sighs) I have no idea.
(They walk off all trying to figure out what to do about this.)
