The scene opens in the stairwell of the arena, where we see Alex Nelson sitting, head down, slumped shoulders, face looking down at the concrete floor…

(He’s dressed in black Nike sneakers, black pants and a black and white sleeveless hoodie with “Bastard Son” in Old English lettering, a medical wrap on his right arm and a white paper medical bracelet on his wrist.)

“This business takes so much from you, it demands so much from you, almost to the point of giving it all, it almost took my Dad, again, stabbed in his match with Vespertine, and what’s he got to show for it?” 

“NOTHING!!”

After the exclamation, he gets up to his feet, pulling the hoodie down off of his head.

“Yeah, he’s got a Valor title shot at Vanguard but no one expects him to win, do they? And that’s the sad part, he’s given years of his life, buckets of his blood to this company and they still think he’s an underdog, or worse yet, an untalented hack…”

“But as for me, am I no better than Mysterion, enhancement talent used to build up what the CWF higher ups think are “better and brighter stars”?”

“Sure, I’ve been on bit of a hot and cold streak, but I’m still learning techniques , I’m still growing in the ring, incorporating a little bit of the Japanese strong style to my mat wrestling skills.”

“So Tony, at Vanguard, I will test your limits, I will see how far you can go and how dangerous you can be if you are to be the next big thing in this company or just a flavor of the month, lost in the shuffle of the roster.” 

The camera zooms in on his face as he replaces the hood over his head and sits back down…

“Fight like hell, as they say, live like you're in heaven, unfortunately Tony, hell will be Baltimore, hell will be Vanguard, hell will be me, Alex Nelson…”
